Everyone that has any familiarity with me knows that I love hockey. I have been starved of NHL hockey for a number of years, since I can only afford cable TV for shut ins (love those tests of the emergency broadcast system).

With that said, and considering how the NBA is engineering a departure of the Sonics franchise from Seattle, I think I have had enough. The solution is so simple, yet so fraught with inertia. Upset that your taxing authority is throwing money at petulant billionaire owners for stadiums? Upset that those owners hijack the team and move unless the city caves in & grants the tax money to build a stadium? Irritated that other pressing needs are unfunded becasue you are building said stadium? Baffled that we have an environment where petulant billionaire owners "need" tax breaks to make their additional millions from their pet ball team?

Well no need to fear! Just convince everyone in the country to boycott professional sports. Sounds simple, and it is in concept. But in practice there are pinheads who can't /refuse to see the bigger picture and "cross the picket line". But perhaps a critical mass could be reached of the people who really spend the money on this. If enough people didn't buy tickets, watch on TV and buy cheesy team apparel, then it might have an effect in the right direction. And a pox on the house of ANY so-called public servant who allows a taxpayer funded stadium on his/her watch. Including Jon Huntsman Jr. for that stupid soccer stadium/mercado latino in Sandy, UT.

Economic stimulus

So let me get this straight: The Congress & Senate are going to send me a few hundred dollars, the point being that I will rush out & spend it like a "good consumer" ( a term I heard on the radio). Since there is no funding mechanism for this, it is deficit spending. So we are essentially giving ourselves a loan with unknown interest & terms to pay in future years when we think teh federal deficit is something we should eliminate. The point being that all this spending by us poor, benighted slobs will jumpstart the moribund economy.

Something is rotten in Denmark. Every so often, you will hear hysterics over the negative per capita savings rate. Yet we want all the plebians to rush out & buy new stereos for their cars and feel happy and ignorant. So which is it? Is debt the instrument by which we will propel prosperity? If so, then we can't be suprised when bad loans are made & people have overextended, and we can't complain when people have more debt than savings.

As for me, I would rather they keep the $600/head and have the Fed not panic and push us into the 1970's stagflation redux. And I think saving is good for all of us and will put us in a better position in the longer view.

How's that for a rant?

Countdown to 2012

Janetta & I have decided that there will be a trip to Europe in 2012. Attendees to include the Langton's, Boone's & M&M Robins. So don't have any kids after 2010 or wait until 9/2012 to have another.

Start saving now. I'm officiating kids basketball games once a week, listening to obnoxious adults at the same time as a bonus. What are you doing?

We need to think about itinerary and objectives starting now so we can figure it out ahead of time & maximize anjoyment.

All- this is my first attempt at something so young & hip as my wn blog. I threw some random stuff on the page, but there seems to be no option to resize the picture of the bathtub girls.

Another note:

I will be naturalized as an American citizen sometime in October, so I will have no excuse to note vote anymore.
